Poor Referring, 2 Red Cards & An OFFSIDE Goal; Robbery Report: Chelsea 2-3 Manchester United

Where was the lines man?
Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Cech (c), Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Cole,  Mikel, Ramires, Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Torres.

Scorers: Juan Mata, Ramires

Sent Off: Ivanovic, Torres

Robbed. To sum up the whole match in a word, we were robbed and in blinding daylight. To be frank, we did come out of the blocks a little late and were sloppy. United scored twice in under 15 minutes to run into a 2-0 lead. The first goal was one of the unluckiest ever, van Persie's shot rebounding off the post onto a unassuming Luiz and into the net. The second one was a quick counter, and van Persie getting on target. But Chelsea soon got back into the game, with almost all of our midfield and Torres and even Luiz having shots on goal. After being brilliantly kept out by de Gea before, Mata got one back for us, on the stroke of halftime from a free kick after Hazard was brought down by Rooney. A fairly entertaining first half with Chelsea dominating possession and shots and United were *gasp* parking the bus!

The second half was a whole different story.

We started off where we left, with Oscar and Hazard linking up beautifully. Mata kept in the ball from an impossible position and Oscar crossed for Ramires to equalize. Game on? Not really, thought Clattenburg. The referee who's heart suddenly needed to express his love for United and the colour red, decided that Ivanovic's last-gasp tackle on Young was worthy of a red card, though the challenge was not malicious in any sense of the word. A few minutes later and Clattenburg couldn't bear to have not shown the card again in such a fixture. Torres was challenged by Evans who clearly clearly clearly had a leg in there - but guess what? Torres was given a second yellow for 'diving' and sent off. Cue slow-motion applause for the wonderful refereeing.

It was still too hard for Clattenburg. So, he coaxed his assistant into letting off an offside goal by Javier Hernandez and lo, United were in the lead again.

errr...Dive? Look again
But what really makes me proud to be a Chelsea fan follows that. The fact that we were down to 9 men and trailing. We could've sat back, defended, not let any more goals go in. Yet, we didn't. We wanted to fight til the very end. Grit. It was shameful as a football fan to see 11-men United sitting back and wasting time against 9-man Chelsea.

We have a lot to take from this game. Our defence was cut open in the first 10 minutes and occassionally after too. And I do not blame United for the controversial decisions. Not much they can do to prevent decisions from going there away sometimes  most of the time, but I do see why they're one of the most hated teams.

I'd like to question the FA over the ineffeciency of their referees. We saw an offside goal being allowed in the Merseyside derby earlier too. We've seen plenty of controversial decisions, penalties ruled out, penalties being given too easily, diving instances and the referees have not been up to the mark.

We are still top of the table. So, United fans, don't start soaring into the clouds. We'll be back in the Capitol One Cup - with hopefully a better referee.

KTBFFH!

  1. Honestly, its a shame that the fa cant provide a very good referee that could have handled this type of match more better. Anyway, two positives to take home. 1. am happy to see the way my Chelsea fought back and 2. we re still on top. Stand tall ROMAN'S BLUE ARMY. From ARTHUR OSADEBE

  2. Clattenburg, Webb and Halsey are a fearsome line-up indeed, bound to grant you plenty of crucial points year in, year out...

  3. Man United had 15 players, including the fourth official who will also get his fair share of payment from the bubblegum factory(Ferguson).

  6. To be frank, l was short of words. One thing l want to make people to realise is ManUA will pay for it. Last season, it cost them the Premier league in a dramatic way and they finished cupless. Chelsea fans should take heart and wait for the consequence.

  12. The ref should pay for this and man u should lose points for result fixing... This game was a clear rob of chelsea's victory... Chelsea players dont complain when they lose... We missed key figures in that game... We missed our great captain and they cheated us in our faces... Man u are fake...

  16. How do you pricks justify Torres being on the field after that horrible tackle on Cleverly! You seem to be watching the game with your asses. Then to top it you "brilliant" manager puts his hand on our player while he's taking a throw, oh what a role model he is for your pathetic little club.

Do you pricks also forget the 2 offside goals you scored against Wigan last season? Don't be so quick to jump when you also get favorable decisions! And yes Smalling also scored an offside goal last season!

Ps. You will forever be our bitches. Haha......

  17. Poor decisions on the field by the officials. Its a shame a match like this cannot be handled better. Overall, I think we did OK except for starting poorly and shaky again with less confidence. Was impressed on how we managed to deal with the weakness of our game play "counter attack", but we will get better. We just have to keep playing that way but we should try to play cesar in games where the opposition would solely rely on direct play. David Luiz is another player who always looks unstable in the defence. I think we have to search for a pacey and composed centre back with high concentration to partner Cahill. Torres was harshly sent off but he was making some rash challenges earlier in the game to be fair and he did go down easily trying to send off Evans, but the ref was a little harsh. Overall, we have a better game play than Manu, but they have a better strike force. The sending offs might be a blessing in disguise as I see Cesar and Sturidge adding significantly to the team. We are still on top of the league and just left to play Man city in the first half of the season for supposed top 4 teams which showed we were the better and tested team before the break. Manu will play Arsenal and Mancity. The league is open.

  18. The truth is that we need Falcao. Forget about the ref, we were already being undone by Van Persie. The first red card was legit and that was the beginning of momentum change. Ivanovic cannot deal with direct players and Luiz is not composed.

  21. We just needed players like Cesar Azpilicueta, Radamel Falcao and Jan Vertonghen in that starting line up.

  23. Can the Goal-Line technology be of any help?

    1. Yes, I think the goal line and video technology would help teams who actually play football. I think it won't favour Manu though unless they also start playing football.

  24. Really I don't understand you chelsea fans, now you say the referee coaxed his assistant, that's silly. You guys scored like 5 offside goals last season I remember 2 against wigan, I don't remember wigan blogging they were robbed, also the final against liverpool, carol's header was a goal bt it was canceled, liverpool also didn't blog they were robbed, why didn't you complain then? It is karma, you guys can't always get lucky, this is football, referees are human, you guys grow up

    1. Wonder where ur count comes from. I think you have to provide ur evidence that Carrols header was a goal less I mistake u for a liverpool fan.

    2. Carrol's header didn't completely cross the line. Search the game on youtube and check the replay in slow motion.

  25. Who invited d stupid person talking abt wigan & liverpool matches, did he watch d matches let alone knwing wht rules say abt goals.Y can't u mention 1 match where Man U was robbed b/4;if Man U is robbed 'll heaven fall.Must Man U rob d big clubs 2 win a match?Where they shd b penalized, advantage 'll b given 2 them exertly wht happened against Liverpool.Must Man U really on refs' favour 2 win big matches?Meaning dt Man U 'r nt true championship clubs irrespective of d fact dt they 've won many cups(courtsy of help 4rm refs).Chicharito is knwn world wide 2 only score goals 4rm offside positions, hence refs shd 've taken note of ds knwn fact(if refs 'r sincere enough) & bcom careful wen he is in dt positn.Bc I believe dt,if Chicharito is a chelsea player, refs wld 've noted dt by now & keep vigilance on his goals.Man U/referees 'r making d beautiful game(football) to look more political & tasteless as they discourage gud football.

  26. Look at stupid Man U fans or Chelsea haters talk! They 've started encouraging robbery & packing of bus instead of gud football. It's quite unfortunate dt u 've already removed d taste of football.Ferguson's time in football is over as he has started influencing d beautiful game negatively.Does Ferguson wants 2 tell me dt if d yesterday's decisions were exertly against him,he wld b saying exertly wht he said against Torres meaning dt he(Ferguson) wld 've said dt Young dived if Young was an opposite player.Las season,Welbeck dived clearly in Chelsea's box a penalty was given by Web;dsame las yr(at OldTraford) Smalling scored wt a header 4rm offside positn against Chelsea it's allowed 2 stand;in our las meeting wt Man U in champions league,Evra clearly kicked/fouled Ramires which suppose 2b penalty,it's nt given.Which one 'll I name & leave d other.Even in their las champions league wt Braga(wen 2-0 down),dsame Chicharito scored 4rm offside positn.Man U does nt really deserve d cups they won if it's ds way they 'r getting victories.

  29. It's high time FA woke up,in the recent times, only few years back,to be precised two years back has an english referee officiated a strong match in europe. In fact the champions league finals between inter milan and buyern munich.EUFA has never had confidence in english referees because of this type of nonsense they keep doing every time. This thing will kill football in england, english football has improved because a lot of good players from other nationals are now in premier league,if this thing continues,i bet people will leave, football is not just about money but fun, happiness and fulfilment.
