A significant development of the recent weeks or even the past month, has been the emergence of Cahill and Luiz as our main centre backs. Though Ivanovic has been used in this position with both of them alternatively, maximum success sans Terry has been with this partnership between the Englishman and the Brazilian.

Today, Chelsea met with West London rivals Queens Park Rangers. With most of the attention being on Ferdinand and John Terry, the game certainly lived up to its expectations. A feisty encounter resulted in a 0-0 draw between the two sides. This result, in my mind, is unacceptable.

Chelsea FC: Performances Internationally

Many Chelsea players were involved for their countries this week. They flew across the whole world to play in friendlies and qualifiers.

Brazil played against South Africa and China. They won unconvincingly from a Hulk goal. All three Chelsea players (Luiz, Ramires, Oscar) did not stand out. David Luiz was the captain in the absence of Thiago Silva. Brazil demolished China 8-0 in their second game. The goals were scored by Ramires, Neymar (hat-trick), Lucas, Hulk and an own goal. Chelsea man Oscar also scored from a corner on his 21st birthday. He assisted three of the goals and was the most vital player. 

Five Chelsea players were in the England side to play Moldova away, only 2 featured. The old guard, Terry and Lampard. England won comfortably after two Frank Lampard goals and a goal apiece by Defoe, Milner and Baines. Lampard had an overall brilliant game and Terry was very important in stopping Moldova's spirited attacks every now and then. However, one negative note. Our captain limped off late in the game with  an ankle injury and it was confirmed he would miss the Ukraine game at Wembley.

I don't know what to say about the performance that we all saw yesterday against Atletico Madrid and how to describe it but i think we should all concentrate on the things we learnt from yesterday match and try to avoid them next time .

David Luiz: Not A Centre-Back?

It's almost impossible to hate David Luiz. The Brazilian defender, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2011 for a fee of €25M, is a cult hero among Chelsea fans, thanks largely to his wacky hairdo & his buccaneering runs from the heart of the Chelsea back 4. The fact that he's very active on Twitter has only made fans love him more. At the same time, many fans have criticized his defensive showings, which have often been poor. Many have even suggested that he should be played as a wing-back, or even a defensive midfield player.

It's not hard to understand why. He looks very comfortable when he's on the ball, & has the ability to pick out a team-mate with that prefect pass. He's also quick, which means that he is able to dribble past players. But should he play as a wing-back, or even a defensive midfielder? I don't think so. And here's why.

Many Chelsea fans think that the big selection problem for Roberto Di Matteo will be the attack. Where will he put Hazard? Will Ramires play? What about Torres? While believe selecting an attack will be a headache for Roberto, I think there is a bigger problem. I like to call it, The midfield dilemma. Our usual midfield was the pair of Frank Lampard and John Obi Mikel, who performed wonderfully during the latter part of our double winning season. However, with the arrival of Oscar, that usual midfield will probably be changed. I will be evaluating the possible line-up with their pros and cons.

We went down at times, we were written off mostly, we were told this is the worst time at the Bridge and some labelled the Club and its players as fallen heroes and warriors. And against all odds we conquered Europe with our motivation and never say die attitude. The beauty was in grinding out results out of nowhere. Yes people and the media did critisice but despite this intense scrutiny we got a DOUBLE from a team which was called old and had nothing much left in it. This was because of some huge characters and one man to whom the credit has to be given that is RDM.

If a team tried their best not to concede goals, then they are being accused of “doing a Chelsea”. Well, if doing a Chelsea means fighting till the end, against all the odds, commitment, courage then its fine by me. But let me remind you one thing. Not everyone can do a Chelsea.
