Looking Forward: The Big SEASON
Buying a right back is most important at the moment for Chelsea. We know that Ivanovic can deploy himself exceptionally in that role, but still prefers to play as a centre back. There’s 3 options potentially that Di Matteo can decide on. Buy an experienced player like Maicon, purchase a younger player that has potential but has yet to prove his worth in the EPL or risk playing academy players like Todd Kane that still need time to develop. In my opinion, I can see Robbie signing someone like Maicon to play as a back up to Ivanovic.
The right side of Chelsea’s future seems to be the area of attention. As we all know, Saloman Kalou has signed for LOSC Lille on a 4-year deal. So that leaves a spot open on the right side of attack. Chelsea, showing the world their intentions to compete in the transfer market, intelligently bought Marko Marin late on in April. He definitely has the potential to bring something new to the club. But, with on and off reports that Porto forward, Hulk, could be on his way to Chelsea. This may put some doubt into his mind.
Finally comes the attacking force of the team. Now that Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has left for China. Robbie must call upon ‘El Niño’ to take upon the role of number one striker. It’s a lot to ask of him, but his recent surge of form for Spain might prove the difference. There’ve been various reports linking Chelsea with tonnes of strikers including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Saloman Rondon, Hulk and plenty more. If Chelsea fails to buy a striker during this transfer market, they’ve the talented young guns Lukaku and Sturridge to utilise. The only problem is, Robbie doesn’t exactly favour the two. Sturridge needs to change his attitude, and Lukaku needs to have a decent pre-season for one or both of them to get a look in.
The upcoming pre-season tour of America could prove pivotal for players trying to cement a place in the starting squad. Lukaku is one of those players. This is his time to shine and to prove to Robbie that he can challenge Torres for that starting role up front. The 4 pre-season games also provide us fans with an insight of our new signings and what they can do. All eyes will be on our most exciting signing, Eden Hazard. At the age of just 21, he has plenty of time to grow and develop as a player. He’s already been recognised for his blistering performances at Lille. Now it’s time for him to bring that to the grand stage of Football.
If there’s anything to be worried about, it’s the strenuous amount of games that Chelsea face and the problem of players running out of steam. We’ll be competing in the ‘FIFA Club World Cup’ for the first time after our historical win in Munich and also battling Athletico Madrid in the ‘UEFA Super Cup’. Chelsea has a match against Manchester City for the ‘Community Shield’, plus the usual EPL, UCL, FA Cup and Capital One Cup to deal with. Robbie will need to continue his rotation policy that worked so efficiently last season to make sure the players stay relatively fit and avoid picking up little injuries. The chances of winning all 7 trophies is not likely, so Robbie needs to sit down and discuss with Mr. Abramovich which trophies are worth battling for than others.
In conclusion, as a Chelsea fan, you’ll gradually start to see if rumours live up to their hype and how our team will shape up for the season. Robbie sure has a lot of work to do, but I can him see delivering another successful season at Stanford Bridge!

DeleteLet's buy richards from mancity
ReplyDeleteDon't think Mancini would ever consider selling to rivals without overpricing... haha
DeleteImpressive!
ReplyDeleteBut with such a schedule as ours, this term, RDM should integrate a couple of our lads into the main stream.
i think dat todd kane or chalobah can deputize at the RB position plus a backup for cech cuz in case of injury there's no competent deputy.for the FW position i think torres, sturridge & lukaku can live up to the bill but i think we shud promote islam feruz,he's got an electric pace and a tremendous eye for goal
ReplyDeleteI agree, Feruz has those attributes that makes him one for the future!
DeleteYou forgot to mention the part where you Robbie puts his squad through rigours training to perfect that 9-0-1 formation XDDDD
ReplyDeleteThink you forgot your grammar skills somewhere.
