360 Report: "Fee And Terms Agreed For Cesar Azpilicueta"?

Reports emerging from the French press on Thursday claimed that Chelsea are ready to officially announce the signing of Marseille right back Cesar Azpilicueta. The fee and terms have been agreed with the player signing on a 4-year deal.

IBTimes reported that a fee and terms have already been agreed with Cesar and Marseille. This was the statement on their website,

"The fee is around £8 million for the Spanish international plus added bonuses for appearences. Azpilciueta has been the focus of Chelsea's search for a new right back to replace the departed Jose Bosingwa and the deal is expected to be announced officially by Chelsea by the weekend. Marseille and Chelsea have been negotiating a deal for sometime now and the French club were more than willing to sell the defender. They are looking to build on their own squad and are likely to cash in on a few more players this summer. "

Now it is pretty obvious that Chelsea would wrap up the signing of a new Right Back before the start of the new season and Cesar Azpilicueta has pretty much been the front runner favorite for this role. Many names like Maicon, Van der Weil, Debuchy, Wallace, etc have also been heavily linked with Chelsea over the past couple of weeks.


For me I always saw Chelsea buying Cesar because of his age, high potential and believe me or not Nationality! Now, we have all observed that Chelsea are building a kind of Spanish-Brazillian squad which is obviously good with respect to our players from Belgium, Portugal,etc. But Cesar would actually help build on our Spanish pedigree joining Torres, Mata and Romeu. They would obviously all link pretty well which would also help the squad spirit, morale and link ups. He would certainly have very less problems settling in London as well.

Lets leave this nationality issue one side but other than this, Azpilicueta is one hell of a talent. For a 22-year-old Azpilicueta carries bags of experience in senior football featuring 126 times for Osasuna and 45 times for Marseille since he began in 2006. He doesn't score many but is the type of full back who likes to get forward and create chances for others.

All these sources and rumours are saying that everything between Chelsea, Marseille and Cesar has been put in place and we are expected to officially announce his signing by the weekend. It would certainly we a great signing that would give Ivanovic a good and healthy competition of that RB spot. It would also give us alot of squad depth at the back. As we all know Ivanovic is pretty comfortable playing Center back so in case of injuries or suspensions to 2 of our center backs Ivanovic could be brought in the middle with Cesar comfortably covering the right side. In whichever way you look at it, this is a good signing for Chelsea if it all goes well.
