BREAKING NEWS: Terry Banned For Four Games By FA

BREAKING NEWS: Terry Banned For Four Games By FA
John Terry has been found guilty of racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand during the match that took place between QPR and Chelsea in October 2011.

The offence supposedly took place during an altercation between Terry and Ferdinand in the local derby which QPR would go on to win 1-0. A police complaint on the whole matter was filed by a QPR fan and John Terry was eventually tried in Westminster Magistrates' Court where he was eventually acquitted. However, the FA judged Terry to be guilty on the "balance of probabilities" rather than "beyond reasonable doubt".

Earlier this week, John Terry announced his retirement from international football as he felt that the FA had made his position in the England dressing room "untenable" because they decided to pursue the case against him.

The whole John Terry saga has been blown way out of proportion. From a criminal case being filed to Terry being proven innocent by Westminster Magistrates' Court and now this, the whole thing has gone too far. The "balance of probabilities" method used by the FA is different to being proven guilty "beyond reasonable doubt". I could give you the exact definition of "balance of probabilities" but it would be as useful as telling the FA to make sensible decisions. A case is won using balance of probabilities if you can convince the jury that your story is 51% true i.e. your case is slightly truer than the other's case. While I'm not going to try to figure out how that works, I hope this is as far as the FA will pursue this. A four-match ban, a fine of £220,000 and retirement from international football. Enough has been done.
