Di Matteo: Another Big Test

Di Matteo: Another Big Test
Ahead of a Premier League home fixture that sees the Champions of Europe welcome Norwich to Stamford Bridge, Roberto Di Matteo addressed the media and spoke to them on a range of issues.

John Terry was rested for the match against Nordsjaelland, but the manager put it down to squad rotation. "Tomorrow is our seventh game in 21 days and we have a very good squad. I try to use the squad as much as I can and freshen up the team sometimes to give the level of energy we need for every game. Every player wants to play every game but with the intensity and the tempo these days, it is very difficult for any player to play every game."

With Daniel Sturridge still out injured (it has been confirmed that he will be back after the international break), Torres will lead the line-up against Norwich yet again. However, Robbie isn't too concerned about player burn-out. "Torres is in good shape, he is very fit but certainly it is something we have to look at (a break similar to the one Mata got)".

On the prospect of facing Norwich, here is what he had to say. "Every time you play in the league after a Champions League game you have to be mentally focused on the game, and the last game before an international break was not good. So it is the mental aspect of it that is important.

We can be fairly pleased with our start and also the way we are playing but every game is a big challenge for us. Tomorrow is another big test and we will have to see if we can continue to play this kind of football and break the opposition down, create chances and win."

One cannot doubt the fact that the match against Norwich is an important one for Chelsea. Norwich haven't been in the best of form and are coming off the back of a 3-5 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool, it would be foolish to underestimate Norwich in any way. For Chelsea, anything less than a win is simply not good enough. We are currently 3 points clear at the top of the table, but all that can change in an instant. A win this weekend will not only ensure that we remain unbeaten in the Premier League but also ensure that we maintain our 3-point lead going into the international break. And with matches against Spurs, United and Liverpool looming, it's important that we have as many points in the bag as we possibly can.
