Frank Lampard : His importance to the current squad.

Frank Lampard : His importance to the current squad.
A lot of talk involving Frank Lampard has been going on recently, about how Frank Lampard does not fit in as a regular for Chelsea, after being dropped to the bench for 3 consecutive Premier League games. We have seen that Lampard does not fit in to the new dynamic Chelsea first team. Hence, he probably won't play as many games as he used to anymore, and this rises a new question. Is Frank Lampard no longer important to the club?

Frank Lampard is still a very valuable player for Chelsea for what he has to offer off the field, or on the fields at Cobham. A veteran like Lampard brings a lot of experience and helps the younger players a lot by learning and training alongside such a maestro. His presence on the field on big days helps a lot, too. During big games, Lampard's experience, and his knowledge can help the team to break a big team down and win the game. Di Matteo has recently emphasized that Frank Lampard is still important to the club, and this is probably the reason. A massive experience, and leadership skills, can sometimes be the difference between two sides on a big day.

Yes, we already have experience in the team with regards to Petr Cech and John Terry but a little more experience has never done any harm, nor has squad depth. In my opinion, Frank Lampard should see out his  remaining career at Chelsea and retire as a blue legend.

However, it remains to be seen what transpires. Will the Chelsea legend leave the club at the end of the season, due to a generational shift which saw Didier Drogba leave, this summer?

Should Super Frank see out his career at the Bridge, or is it time to move on for the stalwart?

  1. People complain that Mikel has not developed over the years but they forget the amount of experience he has accumulated. This is the reason why you should start saying goodbye to Lampard and welcome Ramires or Romue.

  3. It amazes me how fans think lately. Lampard to move on? The guy is Mr Chelsea! It is only right that he retires at the club. It also depends on how he reacts to being a squad player. He should make the decision by telling himself that he simply can't demand a place in the squad anymore, more so the starting eleven. If he loves the club as much as he says he does then he must accept that younger players are to play first. Lamps will always be my favourite player of all time since 2003 till the day I blow out my last breath.

    1. I agree with you ! Lamps will always be my favourite player, and should be utilized as a squad player now. Experience always counts.

  4. I think his time is up. From my observation it seems we struggle every time Lampard hope he leaves sooner dan later. We will always remember us as far as the legendary is concermed. Wat about using Romeo and Ramires in the midfield.

  5. Once a legend always a legend we should give him the two years contract with Frank and after the contract expires we part ways with him. He is a player with experience and remember we have a youthful team now so at some point his experience will be required together with Cole and terry as well. We need to hold onto our senior players in this enterprising team we have now. Against lesser teams he should be allowed to feature but rest him on the bench against greater opposition teams. I rest my opinion about Frank

  6. Retaining Frank in our club ll send out a very good message to the younger players in our club and also to yet to come players that we re not ingrate to those who has offered their all to the success of this great club. Judging from the manner the likes of Alex and Anelka left the club, Roy Wikins and even the current treatment given to Malouda. Let frank retire in Chelsea to show the world that we dont use players and send them away when we need to appreciate them. This guys loved Chelsea. From Arthur Osadebe

  7. Lamperd is on to much money to be sitting on the bench. chelsea will not give him a new contract so sorry to say it but its time for him to go. Abramovich wonts to get rid of all the old guard Chelsea needs new heroes and new legends. just look at it as a new beginning.!!
