Possible January Departures

The January transfer window is almost upon us. While there has been plenty of speculation as to who Chelsea will sign in order to strengthen their side, a few players could also be on their way out of Stamford Bridge. Chelsea FC 360 takes a look at which players could leave the club in January :-

1) Frank Lampard- The Chelsea veteran hasn't featured for Chelsea of late due to a calf injury, but even when fit, Lampard hasn't been a regular starter with Ramires preferred to him. Admittedly Lamps hasn't looked his best when he has started in the double pivot. Despite being a decent passer of the ball, Lampard's game isn't exactly suited to being a deep-lying playmaker. The man who captained Chelsea in the Champions League final at Munich has been linked with a move to the MLS since last season. QPR, Arsenal and even Juventus are apparently interested in signing the midfielder. While the thought of Lampard leaving the club is a sad one indeed, it wouldn't be surprising if he left.

2) Daniel Sturridge- This season has been a frustrating one for Daniel Sturridge. Most of his appearances have been off the bench and he has spent quite a bit of time out due to injuries. When he has been fit, he's been overlooked for Fernando Torres despite the Spaniard's indifferent form. Sturridge has been vocal in the past about wanting more opportunities to play in a more central role, but his words seem to have fallen on deaf ears. Liverpool were interested in signing him during the summer and rumours suggest that Brendan Rodgers could make a move for the striker in January. Again, if he does indeed make the move to Anfield, don't be too surprised.

3) Fernando Torres- Ah, where do I begin? Torres started the season well enough, but has since endured another patch of indifferent form culminating in another frustrating goal-drought. Fans have all but lost patience with the Spanish striker and Torres himself is reportedly unhappy with the club (God only knows why). Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala are rumoured to be interested in signing the misfiring striker, while a swap deal which could bring Radamel Falcao to Chelsea and send Torres to Atletico Madrid cannot be entirely ruled out at this point. If Torres does indeed leave the club in January, very few fans (if any at all) will be sad to see the back of him.

4) Florent Malouda- Remember him? The French winger featured in 3 of Chelsea's pre-season matches as a substitute but was ordered to train with the U-21s in the beginning of the season after he didn't make Chelsea's Champions League squad. He hasn't played a single competitive fixture for Chelsea all season. Santos were interested in signing him in the summer but a deal failed to materialize because Santos were unable to afford his massive wage demands. The club may very well try to offload him in January in order to lighten the clubs wage bill as Malouda reportedly get's paid £70,000-a-week. That's a lot of money for someone who doesn't even make the bench.

Which of these players do you think will leave the club in January? Do let us know!

  4. Torres, Lampard and Malouda should all leave, but Sturridge should stay, cos he's good and young. I like Lampard, but he's a bit old and can't suit our new way of play. Chelsea should sign Fellani to replace him. Then,Cavani or Falcao to replace Torres. Finally,Chelsea should bring in new players like: Willian, Fallani, Paulino, Cavani Or Falcao, and M'villa, these are must buy for Chelsea if we must win anything this season.

  7. Malouda, Torres and Fererra should go. I'm not insupport of Sturridge exit but if the club wanna let him go, i think there should be cleuse in the contract agreement. Lampard should go now......he his ou leader, hero and legend. Roman Abramovich should fire that fat clueless fool and appoint Terry and Lampard as intrime manager......i think they will do better than that FOOL.

  8. Lampard and Sturridge should stay, Lampard is still an icon and i'm sure with the right tactic to play him, he would playing good. As for Sturridge I feel pity coz we never give him an opportnity instead we choose Torres to be play up front, oh I forget it's not we who choose Torres it's only Abramovich who choose to.
Torres should leave with no excuse. He has been one of the main reason we play bad and also the dismissal of some manager especially RDM.

    2. i'd let Torres go even if we had more and better striking options. Keeping him would only breed disharmony in the dressing room. I'd rather Sturridge stayed. Torres's time is up, we cant keep hoping and waiting on him.

    1. to be honest, diame has some realllllly bad games where he plays alot of rubbish, havent seen him much, but couple times last year at wigan and he's coming off the bench for west ham, dnt think chelsea should be aiming for players who cant start for teams like wigan and west ham....tbh

    2. Courtois isn't a second rated goalkeeper who sits on the bench. He should be playing and still be owned by Chelsea for as long as Cech stays brilliant. Keepers only reach their peak in their late 20s and are usually phenominal in the 30s.

  12. Torres sick of him ,cannot score and complains about us in the media ,built a whole team around him bought back his favorite manager ,he has to go .

  13. Torres and struage and maluda should be the ones leaving. I don't know y we keep talking about lampard playing in the deeper role, he did not make his mark playing as a deep laying mildfielder but rather as an attaching one. He is better arriving at the opponent eighteen yard box late. Also marzarca need to learn the defensive part of the game, this can allow us play a 4-4-2 diamond formation with lampard at the top of the diamond.
