EDINSON CAVANI ON HIS WAY!!!

The news now trooping in strongly link Chelsea to Napoli deadly striker, Edinson Cavani hours after the twists and turns of Oscar’s transfer which appears to have been put to rest by Sky Sports that a deal has been agreed just after Oscar’s agent (Neto) has indicated that Chelsea has pulled out of the deal. So, as I have maintained to those who follow me on twitter that in a crazy transfer window like this you “never say never” until August 31st night. Would you believe that PSG will sign Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva had renewed his contract days after he was signed? So “never say never”. Many would have found it difficult to believe the news when it was broke by the Daily Mail last night that Napoli would accept a bid of 35 million (Andy Caroll) pounds provided we will meet Cavani’s wage demand of 150,000pounds a week which will match our top earners. However the same story has appeared in The Sun, quoting the same price. I have always had the belief that Chelsea could sign a striker even before our bid for Bayern Leverkusen for Andre Schurrle was rejected. Therefore a bid for Cavani is a strong possibility which would be great news for our team and for the fans.
Edinson Cavani is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world at the moment. In just two seasons, the 25 year old Uruguay international has scored an astonishing 66 goals for Napoli. He is strong, well-built and powerful who can quickly step it up in the Premier League just like Aguero. His areal ability is fantastic, technically gifted and has a good pace. One great thing about the Napoli ace is that he is the man for the big match just like Didier Drogba and this has made him a cult-hero in Napoli. When Chelsea played them in the champions League, we all saw what Cavani is capable of and against Manchester City; he showed the Citizens who a top striker is.
To me, there are 3 main reasons why I think the capture of the ferocious striker in the ilk of Cavani would be great for the team:
(1)    Cavani would offer the quality depth needed by every top club to Chelsea. Since the departure of Nicholas Anelka- a one-time goal king of the EPL with Chelsea, Salomon Kalou- who offered the need depth to our striking options and the last but not the least, the Legendary Didier Drogba whose departure will leave a “gaping hole” (according to Ray Wilkins) in our team. We can choose to play ostrich and pretend that all is well with us because we have the almighty consistent and European golden boot winner Fernando Torres, the selfless Daniel Sturridge and the new Didier Drogba, Romelu Lukaku. To be frank to ourselves, if we compare our three centre-forwards to City who have Aguero, Dzeko, Tevez and Balotelli can we match them? City showed the whole world the need to have a quality depth of players when Dzeko and Balotelli helped them to win the EPL against QPR as substitutes in the last minutes of the game. Even United can better boast of quality depth up front with Welbeck, Chicarito, Berbatov and Rooney. Madrid has Benzema and Higuain so there is no need of creating a monopoly for Torres in our team. Besides, it will keep the team refreshed always and offer competition which is good for every team including Chelsea.

(2)    It will give us tactical options and variety in our team. We can choose to play two centre-forwards without compromising the strength of the team and not only stick to the one-top formation. Imagine a mouthwatering combination of Torres and Cavani against opposition defenders. I believe this combo can be effective with Cavani since he excelled with Lavezi in Napoli.

(3)    Finally, Cavani is a prolific striker who has proven himself consistently in a top league like the Serie A. He is the sort of striker who at the age of 25, is at his peak and primed to hit the ground running when we sign him.
So there it is, Cavani to Chelsea will continue to gain weight until there is a confirmation by both clubs. Let me remind you that it can take the usual twins and turns of the crazy transfer season just like that of Hulk which I am getting fed up of it but trust our owner Roman and his sporting director Michael Emenalo to pull the surprise all the time. In Roman we Trust!

  3. Brilliant thought. If we have Cavani, that should be great. But if we cannot sign him, please use Sturridge instead. If he is not selfish, he can be a very good striker (Torres's backup). (maybe we can take a risk with Lukaku who may play some games at Capital Cup, FA Cup or PL).

IMO, we really need a good right back (Ivanoic's backup). We may miss out Maicon. Frankly, I don't want our club to buy a young RB because I want them to develop our youngsters (Hutchinson, Kane). But Hutchinson is injury-prone and Kane is too young. It's very interesting to see our club make their decision which should be wise :D.
