Hulk to Chelsea: Negatives, Positives & a Final Opinion

Hulk, A name that CFC have been linked with numerous times over the years but just now negotiations seem to be getting serious. Rumours that Porto would accept a 38 million pound bid for Hulk have been somewhat dashed due to the emergence of PSG possibly placing a 43 million pound bid for the man from Porto. But it is still believed if we place a bid around the 40 million mark then Hulk would become a Chelsea player.

All this talk has got people thinking who is Hulk. Well he plays for FC Porto in the Primeira League and has been a shining star there even since he joined form Japanese club Tokyo Verde in 2008. During the 09-10 season he received a 4 match ban for a tunnel brawl against Benfica but returned better then ever to turn into the star we know today. Over the seasons he has been a Porto he has registered 110 goals and 56 assists. They are some impressive numbers no matter what league your are playing in. For those who do not know much about Hulk then here is what i believe are his Positive and Negative attributes.

POSITIVES

->HIS BIG STOCKY BUILD AND PACE: In the Premier League usually the best players either have pace to leave players in their wake OR brute strength to shrug off opponents at will. There are very few players in the Premier league that have both of these traits but if Hulk came to CFC he would be a prime example. He can beat a player at will with skill and pace and can shrug off almost any defender he wants to.

->CAN MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING: As most of us do when Chelsea are linked with a player, we go look him up on Youtube. Most of the videos about Hulk involve his powerful Left boot slotting the ball into the net from distance. One of the most famous goals you will see from Hulk is Vs Benfica. FC Porto vs Benfica is like Chelsea vs MAN U  always very heated affairs. In that particular match you see Hulk receive the ball on the wing use his quick feet and pace to make room for the shot and Power it from the edge of the box into the top corner at an Incredible 108km/h. There would be very few if any who could do that in the Premier League today and turn the game on its head.

->HAS PLAYED WITH A CENTRAL STRIKER BEFORE: This striker being Falcao. During the 2 seasons him and Hulk were at Porto Falcao scored an impressive 74 goals. Hulk usually always contributed towards his goal tally whether it was a direct assist of just being a part of the play. Imagine our 50 million Pound Man Fernando Torres scoring those sorts of numbers.

NEGATIVES

->AT TIMES A ONE MAN TEAM: Hulk averages around 7 shots per game. Thats the same amount as Messi and Ronaldo. Hulk is good but he is not in the same class as them two. This means his goal to shot ratio is not very good.

->NO VERSATILITY: Presumably we would have Hulk on the Right wing and Eden Hazard on the Left. Hulk is a left footer and Hazard is a right footer. This would mean they would always be cutting in, taking shots and crowding the center. We all saw what happened to Bayern when we stopped Robben and Ribery Cutting inside, THEY GOT SHUT DOWN. Unless we find a way to create Versatility we would be very one dimensional.

FINAL OPINION

I believe HULK would be a terrific acquisition for Chelsea Football Club IF he comes at the right Price. In My Honest Opinion. Hulk is worth 30 million maybe 35 million at the most but we are dealing with Porto and we know they like to put extravagant prices on their players and coaches. If we get him GREAT I can see him being a huge hit but if we don't its not the end of the world, there are other terrific players out there with a more reasonable price tag.
