Ashley Cole has always attracted his fair share of controversy. He's not exactly what one would describe as a media darling. The situation hasn't changed much in recent times. Rumours in the British media were circulating about how he had reached a deadlock in contract talks with Chelsea as he was demanding £200,000/week to remain at Chelsea. However, Ashley Cole quashed all those rumours via his recently-created Twitter account.
On August 3rd 2012, he tweeted, "Why do people talk sooooo (sic) much rubbish when they don't even know what is going on, #doesmyheadin". More recently (and by that I mean today), he tweeted, "Contract talks have not stalled just started, and 200k are you for real, I'd never ask for that, (sic)". He then has a dig at the English media, saying, "Like I said before don't listen or always believe what media say they aint got a clue".
Admittedly, it's relieving to know that Ashley Cole doesn't seem keen on leaving Chelsea. He may be 31, but he still has a lot to offer to Chelsea, both as a player & as a mentor to some of the younger players coming through the ranks (such as Patrick van Aanholt & Ryan Bertrand). He's had an illustrious career, stretching back to his Arsenal days & now his successful years at the Bridge. It would be a shame to let him go now.
So that's that. Ashley Cole has made it very clear that a move away from the Bridge isn't likely, & that we shouldn't believe everything the media tells us.
