Hazard: Impressive Debut |
Lampard said, "He (Hazard) was brilliant. It's a young age to come into the Premier League, no matter how good of a player you are.
He showed the quality he has with the spin and the ball to put Ivanovic through and he showed great speed to get away from his man for the penalty. He was great to play with."
He wasn't the only one who was impressed with the young Belgian. Roberto Di Matteo was also happy with Hazard's contributions. The boss said, "He (Hazard) showed all his quality today. He was outstanding and combined well with his team-mates. He was a threat and exactly what we were looking for. He has great technical ability, a turn of pace. He can play with his back to goal and has a lot of characteristics he can bring to our team.
"With this kind of player, they are difficult to mark because of the movement, they are good on the ball, so I don't think teams will try to kick him, it will just be a matter of the game."
Eden Hazard's price-tag was questioned (I expected that to happen) when Chelsea lost the Community Shield to City. Many even criticized his performance (I have no idea why). One thing is for sure: Eden Hazard has put to rest any doubt that anyone might have had in him. His talent was obvious during the match, & Wigan defenders had no real answer to his trickery, often resorting to hacking him down instead. And while it's way too early to say that Hazard will be the next Ronaldo or Messi, one thing is clear: Hazard has arrived, & he is here to stay.
