Match Report: Chelsea 0-0 QPR

A Disgrace: Anton Ferdinand
For the first time this season Chelsea failed to score and QPR managed a clean sheet. Chelsea’s 100% record finally came to an end at Loftus Road as they were held by a good QPR side who took the game to the European Champions.

Ranger’s boss Mark Hughes handed Julio Cesar his debut where as record signing Esteban Granero made his home debut. Chelsea on the other hand started with Ryan Bertrand on the LW and the 2 new recruits Moses and Cesar made the bench along with Oscar. Both John Terry and Ashley Cole made the starting XI after they were declared fit.

QPR XI- Cesar, Ferdinand, Park, Johnson, Wright-Phillips, Granero, Nelsen, Bosingwa, Da Silva, Zamora, Faurlin.

Chelsea XI- Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Luiz, Cole; Mikel, Lampard; Ramires, Hazard, Bertrand; Torres.

As speculated Anton Ferdinand refused to shake hands with John Terry,Ashley Cole prior to kickoff because of what went on last season these 2 sides met.

First Half: The pre match handshake was soon forgotten as football took over. Chelsea looked to be the better side in the first half, with Eden Hazard being the focal point of all the attacks. It was Chelsea’s #9 who forced the first real save of debutant Julio Cesar after some neat footwork. Ranger’s were soon forced to make a sub as full back Fabio was called off to be replaced by Onohua. Hazard was unlucky not to have won a penalty for his side after the half an hour mark after he was clearly clipped by ex-Chelsea player Shaun Wright Phillips. Andre Marriner waved off  any appeals. QPR’s injury vows continued after Andy Johnson was subbed off due ton injury, he was replaced by Jamie Mackie.

Second Half: It was QPR who emerged as the brighter of the 2 sides come second half. Jamie Mackie’s presence gave the R’s some real attacking bite as they outplayed Chelsea for most of the second half. Chelsea were lucky not to have gone a goal down after Mikel’s error set Zamora through who rounded of Cech but could not find the back of the net. QPR continued to attack and it was captain JS Park who had the best chance of the game for the Ranger’s but he squandered his free header. Chelsea soon introduced Moses and Sturridge for Torres and Bertrand and both off them looked lively. It was Moses whose teed up Hazard with only the keeper to beat but the 21 yr old Belgian wasted the opportunity.

FT: QPR 0-0 Chelsea
