5 Key Players for Blue Glory 2012-13 |
Petr Cech
The underrated hero who always steps up when needed most; a superman who was one of the most important players last season when Chelsea won the Champions League. He was in absolute spectacular form in the last few months of our Champions League Triumph season. Cech's clutch performance put him over the top.
Cech made a series of crucial saves in Chelsea's victories this season and was amazing in matches against Arsenal. He still he has a lot more to offer and would surely be a very big part of any silverware that Chelsea wins.
David Luiz
The Brazillian Geezer who I've always considered as one of the best center backs in the world also would be included in my list for this season. He is a tough and strong defender who has warded off many world class forwards last season like Cavani and Rooney. Last season, he was often critisized of being too shaky and careless when on the ball but he definetly picked up his form and was a huge part in of our success last season. He returned from a hamstring injury last season to play in our Champions League final against Bayern Munich and performed solidly partnering up with Gary Cahill who replaced the then banned John Terry. He also scored a stunning penalty in the penalty shoot out.
Di Matteo has constantly been picking up the Brazilian over Gary Cahill and has been pairing him up with John Terry. So far, he has looked pretty solid and consistent at the back and is constantly getting picked by Brazil for their matches which has not been a surprise.
This summer David Luiz was heavily linked to Barcelona as a potential replacement for Puyol but he ended up staying and signing a new deal with the Blues. The fans love him and he loves the fans and for me, he is surely going to be a massive part of Chelsea Football Club this season and for many seasons to come.
Oscar Dos Santos
The Brazilian looks like a real talent. He already has all the qualities of a prefect #10. The closer Oscar gets to the level of Juan Mata's performances, the more beneficial it will be to Chelsea this season. Many have labelled Oscar as the new Kaka, a clever, skillful and confident player, who loves bringing his teammates into the game. He has shown great ability in scoring and assisting his team mates and many have already started labeling him as Frank Lampard's successor in the Chelsea squad.
Oscar has been scoring for fun for both Chelsea and Brazil and at the young age of 21, is already Brazil's number 10 and looks to be one hell of a talent that would surely tear apart defenses across the Premier League and Europe.
Eden Hazard
The Magical player who has the ability to torment defenses with his pace and skill. He proved his worth to be a top class player that we needed. He has somehow or the other been involved in almost every goal we have scored in the Premier League.
He wins penalties, has blistering pace, knows how to go past defenders, knows where the net is...... What more could you possible want in an attacking player?
Eden Hazard is one of the hottest talents in the world at the moment and there is no point in talking about his skills because if we do, I could never end and we all already know that he is one of the most attack minded and creative player in our squad so its pretty obvious that he will be a crucial part of the Blues 2012-13 campaign.
Juan Mata
Chelsea's most important and consistent player in my opinion. The player who has been rewarded Chelsea's best player of the historical last season's team has already been in blistering and consistent for form for the Blues this season as well. After being rested by Di Matteo, Mata regained his top form and has registered six assists and has scored four goals. He now lead the Blues in assists and is the team’s second-leading goal scorer in all competitions behind fellow countryman Torres this season.
Moreover, we all also noticed the amazing combination between Mata,Oscar and Hazard that Di Matteo has created and how they were connected, organized and especially Hazard and Mata. They are running riot throughout the midfield and have both shown that they are more than capable of destroying defenses at will.
Remember, I have only mentioned 5 players here but it will be our entire squad as a whole who would be hugely involved in anything we achieve this season for sure. Roberto Di Matteo is the backbone of everything that will or has happened this season.
Exciting times lie ahead for Chelsea for sure!
What do you think fellow Blues?

actually we have several keys for our glory but you named the big names but only i would like to put Ramiers & Iva both did nice start this season and relay give more quality for the team
ReplyDeleteYeah, Iva, he is completely wonder this season for Chelsea. He deserves our credits. From Arthur Osadebe
ReplyDeleteI think its not just these players that are going to have to play well for us this season. if we wanna compete for the PL and CL titles this season the whole team is gonna have to do their fair share. Torres is gonna have to bring in the goals. Iva Luiz Terry/cahill and ash are gonna to have to be solid at the back. and most importantly mikel and ramires are going to have to be in top form for us to even come close to winning titles. I hope the club picks up a deep lying playmaker this january because as it is right now, Ramires is the best guy for our deep lying play maker spot. and passing and playmaking arent even his strong suit or style.
ReplyDeletethats absolutely brother thats why i said I have only mentioned 5 players here but it will be our entire squad as a whole who would be hugely involved in anything we achieve this season for sure. and of course we dont forget Roberto Di Matteo
DeleteI would love if u had included Dimatteo instead Luis, but it's all good...I like luiz and I hope he has his best season yet. Good article mate keep em coming
ReplyDeletethx bro and for sure Di matteo is the Maestro of every success :D
DeleteTorres is also key the season. His link up play with those behind him is vital to our new style of play. Drogba scored 5 goals in the league last season and look at Torres now already sitting on 4. He should be able to score 15-20 goals or more this season if he goes at this rate. That's enough if he keeps on assisting his team mates and allow them to score.
ReplyDeleteif he scored 20-25 he would be a massive key
DeleteIt is possible with a few braces and hatricks Mido.
Deletebut as u see Torres is not Falcao/Cavani to score hatricks - no offense just saying that Falcao & Cavani is better
DeleteTrue. Cavani and Falcao score goals lots of goals in a match but that's how their respective teams are set up,to provide for the target man upfront like we use to for Drogba. That isn't the case with Chelsea. We tend to play as a team to open up spaces for whoever has a better chance of scoring. Torres' braces and hatricks will come when the team is in a rampant mood. The QPR game last season at the Bridge is an example of that.
DeleteThis is why I have problems with people. With the way Chelsea is set up, it is obvious that Torres would keep getting the lions share of the chances. The problem now is his conversion rate.
DeleteI also play Fifa and trust me,real life is much harder. I play real football.
DeleteI love Zane's thoughts. He is an amazing fan and lad! :)
Delete@Zane bro lets be more realistic torres will never be like Cavani or Falcao even if we changed the style of playing, dont forget that he was the same with Spain and i believe that torres still have a confidence problem thats why he is improving slowly
DeleteThanks Shaurya. @Mido,I'm not going to argue with you who's better between Torres,Falcao and Cavani because I'm not comparing them. What I do know is that Torres is perfect for Robbie's style. Add Cavani/Falcao and you might have another Sturridge (GREEDY/GOING FOR GLORY) in the team but at a cost. Being a team player is a trait and if you don't have that, you'll never have it. I'm being very realistic here my friend and let me explain to you why. The season is two months old right? Torres has 4 in the league now and there's 7 months,30 games left. The top 5 goal scorers in the league are averaged at 20-30-35 goals a season. At this rate Torres can make that 20 goal mark with a team that's still gelling. As the season grows older the team's chemistry builds and you'll see even better link up plays. That can enable Torres to score braces and hatricks to edge his current goal rate and put him among the top scorers in the league. In the mean time he creates chances for those who are in a better position to score aswell and almost become like the 3 playmakers behind him by dropping deep to allow space for others to run in behind him. Can Falcao and Cavani do that? I honestly don't think so Mido. Look at Messi and Ronaldo, they're not placed as strikers on the pitch but they score lots of goals because their teams play for each other. It's not always about kicking the ball up field to a target man like we did in a Drogba system. It's about finding the perfect and best opportunity to score. Chelsea is evolving.
DeleteYes, Falcao and Cavani can do that. Let us not forget that Cavani can also play on the wings and he has more experience there than Torres. Against Chelsea, he provided levezzi with a great assist, and besides he has better stamina that Torres which enables him not to only get involved in the play, but to also score late goals. Falcao on the other hand might be a little lazy, but he more than makes up for that. He may not have the pace to drive in from deep, but he can pick up the pass and then gradually arrive at the box. Just watching Ath Madrid, you can see that they are ahead of us in the beautiful football so you can tell that Falcao would definitely blend. No wonder he said he believes he can score goals in the EPL.
DeleteSturidge was seen as greedy because he was playing on the wings and we generally have our expectation of wingers. But we must let that go. Did you notice against Juvenus, after a lovely combination between Mata and Hazard, Mata decided to fire into the side netting while Torres was open for goal. This was the same Buffon that Torres helped Mata score against at the Euros in like fashion. So please, Sturidge is ok.
Delete@Zane but if watched Cavani and Falcao u would find them not greedy or selfish at all bro they do a great teamwork with their clubs and i agree that Torres is improving even if slowly and Chelsea is evolving and by the way i doubt that we sign Cavani or Falcao this January so its all build up on predictions :) hopefully that Torres can achieve our goal ^^
DeleteTorres should try to be effective. Many chances, more goals as time goes by.
ReplyDeletehe should try to score more than miss
DeleteTorres is the highest goal scorer at Chelsea and he is still on gear 1. Some people believe that Chelsea do not create enough chances but Torres has already proved them wrong even without penalties. My only problem with Torres is his conversion rate. I know he can score hat tricks, but we would have to create even more because I see no reason why he has not been scoring then. So here is the trick, he has to get his confidence back because I see more chances coming.
Deletehe takes the chances he need to score at least 2 goals per match but he may score one goal and miss the other and thats normal but sometimes i feel like he scores the hard and misses the easy one thats makes me wonder during the match such as his goal in Arsenal match was very amazing touch (unpredictable)and then after few minutes he missed a one on one goal ....this is about confidence for sure
DeleteThe architect of every success we earn Di matteo. This coach is too cool.
