Chelsea intensify interest for Marseille striker Loic Remy

Chelsea intensify interest for Marseille striker Loic Remy
Chelsea are intensifying their interest in Olympique Marseille and France international striker Loic Remy.

Blues chiefs know that manager Roberto Di Matteo needs to find a new striker in January with his attack short of options at the moment. While Torres has been netting regularly, Sturridge has been out injured for a while now and is in the last year of his contract and the club seems unsure as to whether he will sign a contract extension. In such a situation, the club will definitely need to bring in a new striker. Remy was scouted last month against Rennes and Blues scouts were present in the stands once again for OM's clash with PSG on the weekend to see the dynamic France striker in action.

Remy, 25, is excited about Chelsea's interest, knowing he missed out on a £15M move to Stamford Bridge in the final week of the summer market. There is no doubt that Remy would be a brilliant signing if the move was completed. The versatile Frenchman (he can operate on the wings and as a second striker, but prefers to play as the main striker) is definitely one to watch and has been described by his manager Didier Deschamps as "a young international who is fast and powerful with huge potential". The fact that Remy will be far cheaper than other Chelsea targets (both Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani were linked to the club, but neither will cost less than £50M) means Chelsea would most likely pounce at a chance to sign Remy.

While it's definitely not the times to discuss transfers, this story seems to hold some truth to it. Watch this space for more.

Do let me know what you think about this. Do you want him at CFC? Would he be a usefull signing? Is it needed? Who else?

  1. He be good but that's at his own level compared to falcao and cavani. And I think either of Falcao or Cavani is what a club like chelsea needs not remy. Remy maybe cheap but don't think he can play in chelsea. Drogba's shoe is too BIG for him and Torres combined. Bring in Falcao.

  2. Yes I think a move for Remy is the right one. Torres is the main man now and Remy would be a good enough back up for him. Falcao and Cavani are too expensive and I definitely don't see a deal for one of them happening because it will be a waste since we already paid 50 million for Torres who now has the type of playing style he wants. Buying Falcao or Cavani will mean that we might as well sell Torres. We definitely don't need that since we'll just be in a situation short of options like we are now.

  3. I think a striker like remy is what we need, spending 50m or above on another striker is a waste of money remember we still have Victor Moses standing by and our mildfilders are all scorers JAMES EMEH ABA NIGERIA

  4. Well my recommendation would be Falcao, but if they are asking for £50M and above, we would have to continue with Torres. I thought we could even manage two top class strikers but Torres might not be greedy on the field, but he is greedy with playing time. If Falcao can be available for £45M and below, then why not. Anyway, the management knows best because I was expecting Neymar to be the second choice.

  5. Going for a striker within the region of 45-50M now is a waste of money.Buying Loic Remy would be very ideal since he can easily utilise what Torres couldnt do.Torres cant be trusted,he's too eratic and inconsistent to me!

  6. Spain won both d world cup & d Europe without depending on any striker. Chelsea bought Drogba when he was nobody and let as a legend and a super star. Chelsea bought Shevy and Torres as super stars but were disappointed with their output. A food 4 thought

  7. Chelsea must not buy a striker more than £25M. We av tried it more than thrice but failed (Shevy, Torres, Kezman). This is the time to go for rough diamond and great potential not a player with inflated prize cus of much hype.

We don't need another striker, we have Sturridge and Lukaku. If we recall the loan of Lukaku, we will have options. All he wants is playing time, because he was third on the pecking order he left.

With Lukaku there, the power and speed we need upfront will be available. With Sturridge we have speed and skill, and it seems like everyone has forgotten the Piazon is available. He is a brilliant talent and he showed it during the wolves game, so we do have options.

  10. Chelsea does need a striker, but not as a maib mab but rather as a backup for torres and lukaku would be perfect for that. we would rather buy a defensive playmaking mudfielder like alonso.

  12. If torres has scored 7 goals with hazard, mata and oscar, and falcao has scored 12 goals relying on pure class, imagine what FALCAO would do with hazard, mata and oscar?

    1. Falcao then wouldn't assist them, including Ramires to score goals.

    2. Zenim Atletico is built around Falcao, just like Liverpool when Torres played there. Chelsea's system is different, we don't depend on one player.

  13. I've just discovered your website and it's great. I've seen that you are a pro-Torres fan, just like me. As we know, Torres will shine and IS shining this season, so we don't need Falcao. Falcao, please go to Man. City. I think Remy could be a good back up for Torres. Is chelsea interested in Neymar, too? I don't like Neymar. I'm from Brazil and believe me, Neymar is the kind of player who, wherever he plays, he will be thinking: I'll go to Real Madrid or Barcelona". Chelsea is better than both, I know. I Don't think he is good for chelsea.
Your articles on Torres are all great.
