Match Preview: Chelsea vs. Fulham

Chelsea take on Fulham this Wednesday at Stamford Bridge in what is sure to be an important match for the Blues. Chelsea haven't won a Premier League match since the 4-2 win against Spurs at White Hart Lane and the team will be keen to end their win-less run sooner rather than later.

Rafael Benitez's debut as Chelsea manager will be remembered more for the Stamford Bridge faithful booing him rather than the football on display. A dull 0-0 draw against City ensured that Chelsea slipped to 4th in the Premier League table. The only silver lining of the proverbial cloud is that Chelsea managed to keep a clean sheet during the match. However, the result was far from what the Blues wanted, making the match against Fulham all the more important. The fact that this is a local rivalry will add a further edge to the match.

The draw against City, while not an ideal result, wasn't a bad one given the circumstances. Chelsea must now look to build on this given the fact that December will be a tough month due to a massive number of fixtures.

Injury news:

Interim manager Benitez has confirmed that the John Terry, Frank Lampard and Daniel Sturridge are unavailable for selection due to injury. However, there are no other injury doubts for the match.

Fulham will be without the services of Brian Ruiz, Alexander Kačaniklić and Kieran Richardson for the match although Martin Jol has confirmed that Kerim Frei will be available to face Chelsea.

Key stats:

1) The clean sheet against Manchester City was Chelsea's first clean sheet in the Premier League since our 1-0 home win against Stoke.

2) Chelsea have only won 1 out of 6 matches in all competitions during the month of November.

Predicted Chelsea line-up:

Expect Chelsea to rest a few key players for this fixture but still put out a strong XI.

  2. This is a game we cant afford to loose, yet this is a game wecan afford to experiment. I hope to see Marin and Piazon take to the field, we need to rest Hazard and Oscar.

  3. Totally agree. We could try the following combo:

Marko should replace Hazrd while Oscar should attempt to take Romeu's position due his long passing ability.
