Old Lady Bids For El Niño

Exclusive reports from over 8 newspapers from around the world are reporting that Juventus have made a bid for our  number 9 Fernando Torres. The Spanish striker who after winning the Champions league said that he doesn’t know where his future lies got a backing from the CFC board and said he’s going nowhere. But speculations and rumors from the ever expanding rumor mill suggest something else.

A report from Crunchsports read as follows-

According to a report on Goal.com, the newly crowned Serie A champions have made an opening offer for the out-of-sorts hitman, after being priced out of a move for Napoli star Edinson Cavani.

Juventus are planning for a summer of strengthening as they aim to defend their title next season, with Juve chiefs looking to bring in a marquee signing. That was believed to be Cavani, but Napoli have since slapped a €70 million price-tag on the Uruguayan's head, forcing the Bianconeri to look elsewhere. After Fernando Torres showed flashes of his old form recently Euro 2012, it has been claimed that he is now firmly in the sights of Juve boss Antonio Conte.

As such, the club are believed to have made an opening bid of €30 million, with Juventus director Fabio Paratici having already made contact with Torres' representatives.
While it is unsure whether Chelsea would be willing to part with their £50 million striker, it is thought that blues' owner Roman Abramovich would consider allowing Torres to leave if he was able to secure a deal for Porto's star forward Hulk, who is rumoured to be a target for the Champions League winners.

"Torres is the second choice for Juventus, but the impression is that getting Cavani is going to be very difficult, so Torres could be the perfect solution. To be competitive in the Champions League, Juventus need a striker with international experience. Torres has that and he is slowly returning to his form of old."

Sportsmail’s Simon Jones thinks Torres is highly unlikely to part company with the reigning European Champions. This is what he had to say

Juventus are desperate to find a centre-forward to spearhead their revival and have been trying for Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain without much luck. Fernando Torres has long been on their radar and they will try again to see if Chelsea will part with the Spaniard. However, Roman Abramovich is determined to keep Torres and recruit a Barcelona-style squad around him which will see quick, fleet-footed players who are good in possession continue to arrive at Stamford Bridge. That is likely to force Juve to look elsewhere and Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie remains on their radar. Chelsea continue to admire Hatem Ben Arfa of Newcastle and hold interest in Lille right-back Mathieu Debuchy and Inter Milan’s Maicon.

Goal.com,Give me football, crunchsports, footballitalia, sportscamp and an ample of other newspaers are widely reporting Juventus have submitted a £24m bid for Torres.Well our Chief executive Ron Gourlay said that Torres is definitely in the club’s long term plans.
Its quite clear from the recent signings that the club is planning to set up a team around Fernando so that he could once again recapture his goal scoring form that once made him one of the most feared strikers around Europe.

Torres showed shades of his early days in the latter part of the season and he’s been fine scoring form for the Spanish National team in the Euros as well.
Torres has won 2 trophies with the Blues in the past 18 months and now with the old Drog gone its time for Torres to fill the void that king DD has left. And I’m sure he’s up for the challenge as well.

Well all of us at CFC360 hope that Nando stays at Chelsea as the best is yet to come from him and his confidence at the Euros and those sublime strikes against Ireland make you feel that the coming footballing season could be Torres’s.

Till then KTBFFH as always...

  1. I honestly don't want Nando to leave chelsea at this time when he is certain to be our main striker. He had to compete with a complete player (Didier) who looks like he's arrogant. Nando looks to me like a rather sensitive person and that might have had something to do with his confidence at CFC. Confidence can also be influenced by mental issues..so Nando will perform now that Didier is leaving. Zane-devote south african chelsea fan!
