Chelsea has a very promising first team and is ready to
challenge for the title next season. At the same time however, there are some
very talented young players playing at Chelsea and waiting for a chance to play
in the first team. A look at some of our best youth players :-
6.Oriol Romeu
Oriol Romeu is a 20 year old Spanish footballer. Chelsea signed Romeu from Barcelona in August 2011 for a fee of €5 million. Romeu is a right footed defensive midfielder who can also operate as a central midfielder. He has played quiet a few games for Chelsea so far, featuring in 15 premier league matches, 3 Champions League matches, 3 League Cup matches and 2 FA Cup matches. Romeu impressed quiet a few people with his performances. He is quick on the ball and positive with his passing. He is also good at holding the ball and can give Chelsea that extra defensive strength. He has an impressive passing rate of 92.1% so far and is good going forward as well as while defending. He is one of the key youth players that Chelsea have and with the proper exposure, could be an important player for the club in a season or two.
18.Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku is a 19 year old Belgium international. Chelsea signed Lukaku from Anderlecht for a fee of £18 million on a 5 year contract. Lukaku is a striker and likes to play in the central forward position. He has many attributes that make him a quality striker. With an imposing physical specimen, Lukaku is strong, tall and quick, and possesses the positional awareness and quality of finishing to mark him out as a superb all-round striker. He is also a focused and determined character. His style is dominant and explosive. Because of his qualities he has often been called the next Drogba. Lukaku has not been a regular starter so far because of the competition for the forward position at the club. However, if given adequate chances he could prove to be a phenomenon. It would be in the best interests of the club as well as Lukaku if he were sent on loan to a Premier League or a La Liga side to get some experience. He certainly could be one of Chelsea key players within a season or two.
20.Josh McEachran
Josh McEachran is a 19 year old English midefielder. McEachran joined Chelsea at the age of 8 as an academy player and has risen through the ranks. McEachran's best attributes are his ability of unlocking defenses with his close control on the ball, vision and composure. He is technical and composed and a great asset in the midfield. Although McEachran faces fierce competition for a first team place, he still has age on his side and a long way to go at Chelsea. He is definitely a player for the future and someone to look out for.
34.Ryan Bertrand
Ryan Bertrand is an English footballer. Bertrand was signed by Chelsea from Gillingham for a fee of £125,000 in July 2005. He is a left back and has featured for Chelsea in a few games. His most significant match was the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in which he played as a left midfielder. Bertrand also started for Chelsea against Wigan earlier in the season and gave an outstanding performance and was voted the fans Man of the Match. Bertrand is potentially the replacement for Ashley Cole if in any situation he is not able to play. Also Roberto Di Matteo has shown faith in Bertrand and so we can be certain that we will be seeing him play this season.
The above mentioned players are the youth and future of Chelsea. There are also players like Gael Kakuta, Thibaut Courtois, Kevind De Bruyne, etc. in our youth team who can be great assets in the future. All in all, the future of Chelsea is bright and, if Roberto Di Matteo gives all of them sufficient play time and an opportunity to develop, Chelsea could have some very talented players at their disposal in a season or two. It remains to be seen however how RDM acts on the youth development program. Till then, KTBFFH!
Intersting lots of youth we have in our team now hope we maintain thm because they are the future of the club but we need a prolific striker like cavani or falcao. cfc4ever
